This is What Comes After Lunch – a gentle, truth-filled space where we leave behind the lies, embrace our God-given stories, and walk in the light of His truth and love.
For years, I lived gripped by an eating disorder. What started as a way to cope with heartbreak and uncertainty quickly became a monster that controlled my thoughts, my decisions, and my days. I hid behind control, perfectionism, and the false promise of “at least I’m thin.” I felt exhausted, ashamed, and terrified of being seen.
But God met me in that desperate place – right in the middle of the struggle. He didn’t wait until I had it all together. He lovingly showed me that the eating disorder had become an idol, promising safety and identity that only He can give. Slowly, through tears, surrender, and daily trust in Him, the loud lies began to quiet. God’s voice became louder, and real freedom started to take root.
That journey – from hiding and striving to resting in grace – is what birthed this blog. What Comes After Lunch is for every woman who has ever felt trapped by shame, body image lies, perfectionism, or the exhausting need to earn love and worth. It’s a place to find honest stories, biblical encouragement, book recommendations, and practical hope that points us back to Jesus – the One who laid down His life so we could be truly set free.
Here you’ll find:
- Real recovery stories that don’t sugarcoat the process
- Scripture that breathes life into weary hearts
- Gentle reminders that freedom is found in surrender to Christ, not in striving
- Book reviews and resources to nourish your faith and mind
My prayer is that this becomes a safe corner of the internet where you feel less alone and more hopeful. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to be “fixed” before you surrender. Jesus meets us right in the chaos, and He is writing beautiful new chapters in our stories – even now.
Whether you’re deep in the struggle, somewhere in the middle of recovery, or walking in freedom and wanting to grow deeper in Christ, you’re welcome here.
I’m cheering you on in this journey. Feel free to reach out, leave a comment, or subscribe for more encouragement straight to your inbox.
With hope and grace,
